This song was recorded by Colin Gagon at his house in New Orleans in March of 2011. I had quit drinking six months prior (yup, it's been over four years now since I've had any alcohol) and Colin and his family were kind enough to put me up for a few days. I was still adjusting chemically, mentally, emotionally, etc. and doing a bit of tracking and hanging out with rad people is good medicine. I got a well needed a dose of down-home humanity and I thank them for that.
lyrics
wasted days and wasted nights
this aint no way to live a life
all my time spent loose and free
buying nothing but misery
I been drifting around
the same old scene for some time now
like a doe caught in the shine
drawn to my own demise
set me straight and get me free
lift me out this misery
I aint never been one to pray
but I'm on my knees today
there's no more joy, no more fun
carefree days are dead and done
can't get high, it's all a low
coming down is all I know
wasted days and wasted nights
this aint no way to live a life
all my sin has gotten 'round
to claiming my soul and pinning me down
