This song is a result of my 'finish what you started' writing project wherein I workshop and complete (or toss) whatever song scraps I've started but didn't finish in the last 10 to 15 years. The bulk of my 'singer-songwriter' song-posts from the last 2 or 3 years have been the result of this project. I'm finally wrapping it up. I've got another 10 or so I'd like to finish before the end of summer. This one turned out pretty great.
lyrics
you weren’t my first, you weren’t my last
you weren’t the crown jewel of my checkered past
still your memory is slow to fade
I will miss you always
I don’t do shoulda coulda beens
if thens don’t mess with my head
I know everything’s in its place
still I miss you always
we did the things you do
when in the throes of youth
you were the one a time or two
and I will miss you always
